Run the pure desert

In the middle of the Sahara desert in Morocco is located one of the most remote and authentic areas: the valley of the Draa River. A magical place , full of plains and spectacular dune ergs that follow the underground course of one of the longest rivers in Morocco.

It is not a competition but a challenge, adapted to different levels according to the level of demand of each one. We combine different terrains and scenery each day, with two levels so that everyone can adapt their level of demand:

Each participant will be able to choose the variant he/she wishes, and even change from one to another during the route as he/she feels at any given moment.

10/Nov/2024

Arrival in Marrakech

Today is the day we all meet at the concentration hotel. From 5:00 p.m. we will be in the hotel hall to welcome you, and at 7:00 p.m. we will do the general briefing of the adventure. After the briefing, we will have dinner and we will get to know each other better and prepare for this great adventure.

11/Nov/2024

Marrakech - M'Hamid

After having breakfast, we will check-out and at 9:00 we will leave for M’Hamid, at the gates of the desert. A long day on the road awaits us in which we will cross the Atlas and gradually enter deeper into the desert. We will have lunch en route and arrive towards sunset at our hotel in M’Hamid.

Stage #1: M'Hamid - Erg del Draa

First day of our adventure! We leave M’Hamid (last inhabited nucleus that we will find) to reach the first great Erg of the Draa. We will cross great plains and we will run in between the small trees that surround the Draa River, which we will cross before reaching our destination for today, the great Erg of the south. Night “des Sables”: we will sleep in self-sufficient free camping (bivouac) under the stars. A first stage not to forget!

13/Nov/2024

Leg #2: Erg del Draa - Erg Cheggaga

We will wake up in the middle of the dunes to head north, towards the sea of dunes of Erg Cheggaga. Today we will run through very varied terrain, alternating rivers of sand with hard surfaces and dunes. A very complete stage of extraordinary beauty. We will sleep at the foot of the dunes, in a bivouac with dinner and breakfast included.

Stage #3: Erg Cheggaga - Iriki

A day of great contrasts! We will start in the dunes, through Erg Cheggaga, as we head west towards the great dry lake of Iriki. A day of pure desert. Overnight stay in a lodge in the middle of the dry lake of Iriki, including dinner and breakfast.
CHALLENGE: 32Km / DISCOVERY: 16Km

15/Nov/2024

Stage #4: Iriki - Foum Zgid

Last day of our running trip in the Draa river valley! We will continue heading west crossing the infinite dry lake of Iriki, in a stage in which you will be able to feel the immensity of the desert with all its force. Near the end, we will take some trails that will take us to the finish point, where a final picnic will await us. Transfer to Foum Zgid and night in hotel with dinner and breakfast. Tonight we will celebrate the great challenge we have achieved!

16/Nov/2024

Foum Zgid - Marrakech (Return)

After having breakfast, we will check-out and at 9:00 we will leave for Marrakech. We will have lunch en route and arrive towards the sunset at the Marrakech airport. End of our services.
